First loss but not all lost

StrikeItLucky went down to a 4-2 defeat on Monday night, but not without a fight. They were beaten by the better side but still showed glimmers of great football and were by no means overawed.
Early on, Elliott Dempsey went close after a good move and was unlucky not to hit the target after a neat volley.
However, BDFC took the lead and it took a while for the home side to get on a score sheet. After conceding 2 goals, they managed to get one themselves. Shortly after though, they conceded another 2, and this sealed the game. The 2 goals the luckies scored however were great play and if they can just build on that, they will turn teams in this league over, which at the moment they may not believe they can.
The first was a great run, then dummy run, then run again from player-manager Craig Powell to fool the blatant egg-chasing stand-in for the opposition, and calmly slotted in to the top corner - a lovely side foot finish. The second was a full team effort. Mark Edgar, realising the urgency to score, brought the ball out to the half way line, squared it to Matt Kingston, he pinged it to Gary Hudson's feet, he shifted it Powell who squared it to Jason Bell who promptly roofed it in to the net. Great goal.
Powell was up and down all game, Nick Belcher was awesome in defence against the oppositions' dangerous forward and Jason Bell deserved his man of the match award, after his best performance in weeks.
The result was a downer for the team but instills belief in the team that they can more than carry their weight in this league.

Next Monday, the lads face the table-topping Bicesterlona FC. tough game, but that is when you usually see he best of StrikeItLucky FC!
