Strike It Lucky FC secured their first championship with an 11-6 victory over their old rivals Sad Ham Allstars.
The first half was a tight battle as SIL's showed slight nerves as they battled for the vital 3 points. They managed to come in at half time 3-2 ahead thanks to goals from Kingston, Dempsey and J.Steptoe. Going into the second half the first goal would be crucial in this battle for SIL's title hopes.
To their dismay SIL's conceded the equaliser which brought the scores back level, 3-3. Straight from the kick-off SIL's took the lead once again through Powell. This proved a turning point in the game as SIL's really turned on the style, (it was just like watching Brazil) as both Dempsey and J. steptoe got their hat-tricks, Kingston got his second and Bell with a further strike. After this spell of dominence SIL's replaced their number 1 keeper Edgar with Kingston, so Edgar was outfield and he even got on the scoresheet. As SIL's took their foot off the peddle Sad Hams scored a couple of consolation goals, but this couldn't spoil the title celebrations at the pub.
With this victory SIL's are now crowned champions of Division 3 and will be playing Division 2 football next season. People talked about Arsenal being the untouchables after their unbeaten season, can SIL's get the victory on the final day of the season to achieve the perfect season and be known as the invincibles.
