Strike it Lucky got off to a perfect start to the new season with a 6-3 victory over The Star Inn on Monday night. The team were nervous going into the game after being relegated after last season, but the nerves soon went away after Steve Steptoe scored twice early on to put SIL 2-0 up. Ater conceding a goal shortly after, SIL were once again on the attack and when Matt Kingston picked up the ball just inside the opponents half, all the fans shouted him to shoot, which he did and it flew into the corner leaving the keeper helpless. Just before half time The Star Inn did pull another goal back to trail at the break 3-2.
Once the game restarted SIL continued to attack but wasted a few chances but eventually Stevie managed to complete his hat-trick and from then on, there was only one team that was going to win. SIL's fifth was scored by Jamie Steptoe after his 10th attempt at goal. The Star scored once more, but the game was sealed with Steve's 4th goal and the Lucky's enjoyed their first game with a win.
MoM's- Steve Steptoe and Matt Kingston.
